Rooted in Good (Curaleaf)
Overview: Curaleaf’s “Rooted in Good” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is led by Curaleaf Vice President of CSR Khadijah Tribble, and it focuses on three pillars: Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), Social Equity and Environment / Sustainability. To be Rooted in Good is to consider the holistic health of the entire community. This includes patients, employees and neighbors, as well as the environments we impact, both locally and globally.
Our Programming: Curaleaf has begun deploying a new Social Equity model intended to provide mentoring and technical assistance to aspiring business owners, support organizations that work to mitigate the harm of the war on drugs, create pathways to ownership for social equity license holders, and increase economic opportunities for individuals from historically disadvantaged communities. The focus of this initiative is on activating programs that foster repairing social harms and removing systematic barriers for people from communities most harmed by the War on Drugs and institutional oppression.
As a part of Curaleaf’s Social Equity program, it has begun deploying the following initiatives:
· Executive Roundtable Program: Curaleaf’s Executive Roundtable is designed to provide mentorship and support to license holders and applicants from social equity communities. Its vision is to provide opportunity for a few committed individuals each year to immerse in a full time one-year curated mentoring program. Participants can expect access to subject matter expertise across Curaleaf companies and select external business partners. The cohort application process is now underway.
· 420 by 25: Curaleaf is committed to building an equitable retail experience both in-store and online. By 2025, the company commits to having 420 holistic partnerships with brands, ancillary businesses, and suppliers owned by individuals from communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs featured in each of its stores across the country.
· First Fridays Technical Assistance Workshops: Paying homage to the “First Fridays” tradition that started in 1987, First Fridays at Curaleaf will offer a wide array of programming for the Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) community interested in cannabis today. Participants can expect to connect with leading industry voices, network for business and employment opportunities, employment and learn more about the cannabis culture.
